Forget-Me-not

Forget-me-not (Myosotis spp.) has delicate, sky-blue petals and association with remembrance and love. Native to Europe and Asia, forget-me-nots have become naturalized across North America and are often found in gardens, meadows, and near streams.

As with all wild herbs, it’s important to properly identify and verify the safety of the specific species before using forget-me-nots in tea or food. The aerial parts of Myosotis sylvatica and Myosotis scorpioides (also known as true forget-me-not and water forget-me-not) are edible. All other Myosotis varieties are not recommended for ingestion.

Most commonly used as an edible garnish or to bring a splash of color to cup of tea, Forget-me-nots add a mild, grassy flavor and hint of floral sweetness. We love to add a few to a relaxing cup of evening tea, as the flowers are known for their soothing qualities. They are also used to support respiratory health, and to ease anxiety.

Forget-me-not tea pairs well with other soft, calming herbs such as chamomile, lemon balm, and lavender, which enhance both its flavor and its mood-soothing effects. It can also be blended with rose petals or mint for a more fragrant cup.
