Skullcap

Skullcap (Scutellaria lateriflora) is a delicate perennial herb in the mint family (Lamiaceae), native to North America. Commonly found along streambanks, forest edges, and damp meadows, it forms clusters of slender stems topped with small, hooded blue-violet flowers. Its name comes from the shape of these blossoms, which resemble tiny caps or helmets.

Skullcap is to support relaxation, ease occasional nervous tension, and promote a sense of calm. The aerial parts of the plant – its leaves and flowers – contain flavonoids that contribute to its soothing character. Moreover, skullcap is said to invite peaceful sleep and bring good dreams.

Skullcap tea has a mild, earthy flavor with subtle grassy and floral notes, making it a tasty, serene brew. It pairs beautifully with chamomile, lemon balm, or lavender for a deeply soothing evening infusion. We also love combining skullcap with spearmint or rose petals to soften its earthiness while preserving its naturally tranquil character. It is a key ingredient in our Quiet Mind blend.
