Tulsi

Tulsi

Tulsi, or Holy Basil (Ocimum tenuiflorum), is a highly aromatic perennial herb in the mint family (Lamiaceae). Revered for thousands of years in Ayurveda and Hindu tradition, the plant symbolizes protection, clarity, and spiritual well-being. Tulsi is recognizable by hairy stems and toothed leaves with a strong, earthy scent when crushed.

Tulsi has a long history of use as a restorative and uplifting herb. The leaves contain naturally occurring aromatic compounds – including eugenol and rosmarinic acid – which contribute to tulsi’s warming, clarifying aroma. It is used to support respiratory comfort, digestion, a balanced stress response, and overall vitality.

Tulsi tea brews into a warm, amber infusion with a vibrant, sweet-spicy flavor – layered with notes of clove, pepper, and a hint of floral basil. It offers a lively yet grounding cup that is invigorating without containing caffeine. To soften its warming spice tones, tulsi pairs beautifully with cooling herbs like spearmint or lemon balm. We also enjoy combining tulsi with rose petals, to create a balanced, comforting tea that can be enjoyed morning or evening.
