Spearmint

Spearmint

Spearmint (mentha spicata) is a fragrant perennial herb in the mint family (Lamiaceae). It thrives in moist, sunlit habitats – along streambanks, in meadows, and in cultivated herb beds – where its bright green, lance-shaped leaves release a sweet, uplifting aroma when brushed or crushed. Softer and more delicately scented than peppermint, we cherish spearmint for its gentle flavor and versatility.

Spearmint is used to support digestion, ease occasional bloating, and offer calm and clarity. Its leaves contain naturally occurring compounds such as carvone, which give spearmint its characteristic sweetness and mild cooling quality.

Spearmint tea brews into a soft, golden-green infusion with a smooth, sweet-minty flavor and a gentle, refreshing finish. Milder than peppermint, it is a wonderfully approachable tea that can be enjoyed throughout the day. For additional brightness, spearmint pairs well with lemongrass or citrus-peels. To create a calming, evening-friendly cup, it combines beautifully with chamomile, lavender, or lemon balm. Its naturally sweet aroma and mellow character make spearmint a comforting, versatile addition to any herbal tea collection.
